Student Life at
University Christian
Our community provides ample opportunities for students to connect, belong, and be known.
Their experience is at the center of all we do.
Student Life
Student life is fostered through the significant moments where we all come together—like Opening Ceremony or the All-Family Celebration of Diversity—as well as in the smaller moments when students and teachers connect over unique interests. Through our after school activities, lower schoolers share their love for interests like Harry Pottery or Lego Robotics. Middle and Upper School students form clubs around political ideas, business, creative interests, non-profit work, and Veteran engagement.
Spirited events, like cheering our friends at Homecoming or the K-12 musical, are balanced with more meaningful times of reflection. And all of this community building forms a foundation for students to explore boldly in the classroom, forging the kinds of life-long friendships that draw alumni back to campus year after year.
Discipleship
University Christian School desires to lead every student to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We believe our mission is best achieved when intentional, deep relationships are formed. In doing so, UC students enjoy a rich discipleship experience designed to introduce them to Christ, encourage them in their walk with Christ, equip them in becoming fully devoted followers of Christ who are prepared to obey the great commission.
Students are given the opportunity to experience God through multiple age appropriate outreach opportunities. Chapel, small groups, mission trips, and class trips/retreats all provide Biblical worldview training for Pre-K – 12th grade students.

Small Groups
Intentional relationships that are built within a smaller community of students help to narrow the focus on spiritual growth and accountability with one another. Small groups are more intimate groups leading to discussions that are more relative to the age and situations of the students meeting. This is an opportunity for Bible study, prayer and personal discussion of life challenges and issues while being mentored by adult leadership and direction.
Outreach
University Christian students are given multiple opportunities to participate in outreach throughout the local Jacksonville community. UCS has clubs and class sponsored events that work with organizations such as the Corner Pantry, Night to Shine Jax, The Buddy Program with North Florida School of Special Education, Re-Threaded, Jacksonville Baptist Children’s Home, Fosters Closet, Pine Castle, Palm Gardens and many more
Mission Trips
UCS has two organized mission trips for our students. The first is specifically designed for our sophomore class, who travel to Mexico City and serve with one of the sending missionaries from University Church. While in Mexico, students will assist with projects in their Christian school, United Capital School, the local Manna Feeding Centers and camps for local inner-city young children. The second trip is for the senior class, who has traveled to multiple countries working with Filter of Hope and sharing clean water with poverty-stricken families. Their trips have consisted of traveling to the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Belize, and Hawaii. While missions travel is limited specifically to these two grades, students from all grades at UCS are able to participate and play a role in the work conducted by gathering items and supplies for the individuals we will be serving.
